Mandy to star in two new dark blockbusters
|
Hey guys,
quess what I have for you! There is one new article about Mandy´s projects.
Actress Amanda Seyfried is getting back in touch with her dark side.
The 25-year-old Allentown native seems to take roles from opposite ends of the spectrum: dark thrillers and chick flicks.
Her recent releases included romantic movies “Letters to Juliet” and “Dear John,” modern film-noir “Chloe,” and the bizarre, satanic film “Jennifer’s Body.”
The Allen High School alum landed two more leading roles on the darker end of the spectrum.
Recently, it was announced that Seyfried will be starring in screenwriter Andrew Niccol’s new film “I’m.mortal,” which is set to be released sometime next year. Niccol, who wrote “Gattaca” and “The Truman Show,” is also directing the film, which is produced by Leonardo DiCaprio.
Still in pre-production, “I’m.mortal” is a futuristic tale about a world where the rich stop aging at 25 and time is like money. The rich have all the time in the world to spend on luxury while the poor are left aging and struggling to survive. Seyfried’s character is a young heiress taken hostage by a young man from the ghetto who is accused of murdering a rich man for his time.
The role of the poor young man could be played by Justin Timberlake, who is in negotiations to sign on for the part. Seyfried and Timberlake co-starred in the 2006 film “Alpha Dog.” “Inception” actor Cillian Murphy is also in final negotiations for a role in the film.
Timberlake has a few other movies that will be hitting the box office soon — including the animated “Yogi Bear” and a movie about the birth of Facebook called “The Social Network,” coming to theaters Oct. 1.
Seyfried is now filming a movie set to be released March 11 under the working title “The Girl with the Red Riding Hood.” This dark take on the Grimm fairy tale is directed by Catherine Hardwicke, director of the first “Twilight” installment. Working with gothic monsters must be Hardwicke’s forte as “The Girl with the Red Riding Hood” is set in a medieval village terrorized by none other than a werewolf. Seyfried plays Valerie, better known as the classic Little Red Riding Hood, who falls in love with a woodcutter whom she seeks out to slay the wolf.
“The Girl with the Red Riding Hood” also stars Gary Oldman from the ” Harry Potter” movies; Lukas Haas from “Inception;” and little-known hunk Shiloh Fernandez.
Other projects that Seyfried is reportedly working on include a film adaptation of the Oscar Wilde play “A Woman of No Importance,” which is still in pre-production and rumored to be released sometime in 2011, and a drama called “Albert Nobbs” with Glenn Close, Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Orlando Bloom, which is also in pre-production and rumored to be released sometime in 2011.

Amanda Seyfried Q&A
|
Amanda Seyfried really burst onto the scene in the all singing and all dancing Mamma Mia back in the summer of 2008 – and in just two years the actress has become of the most famous and recognisable young stars currently working in Hollywood.
And 2010 has been a busy year for Seyfried with Chloe, Dear John and Letter To Juliet all under her belt, finding success with them all. Dear Johntopped the U.S. box office and is now ready to be released on DVD.
- How did you get the role?
I got the script. I had a meeting with Marty Bowen and with Wyck Godfrey, Tucker Tooley.
- So they were after you, not you after them.
What? Oh no, it starts off as a mutual kind of passion. And then you realize that they definitely want you to audition ’cause they don’t know if you’re good enough! I’m just kidding.
But Chan and Lasse, I met Lasse in Stockholm, at the Press Corps. And we had lunch and then Chan was already involved. He and I met, and then I saw Lasse again with Chan.
We did the chemistry reads. And then from there it was like a normal process. It was good.
- How was it important for a movie like that to click with your co-star?
It depends if your co-star is very unlike you, or just very serious, or just different. it may be hard. But I think Chan and I think alike and I think because he’s so playful, he brought out the best in me in that role.
And we don’t take anything seriously on set. Except the work. But the camera only rolls like three minutes an hour, so you have no choice but to try to make the time worthwhile and have a good time. So that’s what we did actually. Continue Reading?… »

Cillian Murphy Doing Time in Andrew Niccol’s I’m.mortal
|
The Hollywood Reporter says that actor Cillian Murphy, most recently seen in Christopher Nolan’s Inception, will be joining Amanda Seyfried among the cast of Andrew Niccol’s science fiction drama I’m.mortal for 20th Century Fox and New Regency.
Murphy joins Amanda Seyfried in the movie set in the near future where immortality can be bought and the rich can live forever, creating a situation where overpopulation is controlled by those who can afford to buy more time. When a poor man named Will finds himself with money and is accused of a murder, he goes on the run with a captive heiress, played by Seyfried.
According to the trade, Murphy will play an officer from an organization known as Timekeepers who is as “precise as the time he keeps,” presumably making him one of the law enforcement officers after Will.
Last month, ComingSoon.net discovered a tidbit buried in an “American Idol” story saying that Justin Timberlake was in negotiations to play the role of Will in Niccol’s movie–you can read that story here–something that’s also confirmed by the new Hollywood Reporter story.
The movie is set to start shooting in September.
